General steps for copying a character from a Disney reference:

- Make a light sketch to place the main elements of the figure, skipping details and focusing on proportions
- Re-draw over it, fixing errors in proportions & positioning, and adding details
- Clean up the lines
- Coloring: just simple fills for each area (in Photoshop I use the color picker)
- Add a background: it could be just one color or a simple gradient; the point is to frame the character
- Tweak the line colors. Add final touches depending on the reference: shading, sparkles etc
